In ancient Greece, in the past, a liar or lawyer meant good faith in ancient Athens. The problem is that the Athenian speakers fought in their own cases according to the rules of the time. There is a tendency to stand as a friend or assistant in another person's legal case. Secondly, there was no rule for taking remuneration in the case of others. For that reason, speakers should be considered as perfectly legal aids, not according to Athenian law. Because of the fact that the profession is bound to provide free legal aid as a friend's helper, they cannot be called professionals. One who does this job as a legitimate remuneration can be called a lawyer.

New laws and regulations are being introduced throughout Europe to prove professionalism. In England, the law was passed in 1208, and lawyers were sentenced for indecency and error.
